Business coaching and mentoring
There is a difference between coaching and mentoring. Coaching is a lot more structured and normally focuses on specific areas and has defined goals and objectives. Mentoring is normally more long term and more informal as and when the mentee requires and focuses on guidance, support and advice and also takes a broader view of the person and their beliefs and wants out of life. Both aspects are critically important and can assist in the growth and development of professionals and leaders of tomorrow and assist in enhancing productivity, improves job satisfaction and job longevity.
A life coach is not a counsellor or consultant. A life coach will not tell you how you should live your life or what you should do or how you should be doing it. Who you are where you are today is as a result of all your past experiences, whether they were good or bad, it is life and it has got you to where you are today. A life coach has a unique set of skills to help you understand the impact these past experiences have had on you as a person and the impact they have had. Then using some very cool techniques can assist you in letting go of the ‘negative’ things of the past that could be holding you back and then maximizing your potential going forward. Your state determines your behaviour which produces results. So it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realise that a person in a ‘happy’ state is going to have positive results. A life coach can assist and guide you to change your state which will in turn lead to the results that you are looking for.
